About Marie
Marie Murphy is a licensed professional counselor as well as a certified professional coach. For over 20 years she has been supporting individuals, couples, and organizations in overcoming challenges, and aspiring to their highest potential.
From a very young age Marie was intrigued by a desire to better understand the human condition and how our lives are shaped historically, psychologically, and spiritually. She followed these interests which took her to very interesting places. She lived for nearly a decade in different parts of Asia, where her interests led to the studies of culture and religion. She found her interest in teaching as a speaker in Singapore, where she presented on cultural subjects of interest to the expatriate community. While in Japan she was a co-founder and moderator of an informal gathering of spiritual seekers from all over the world called, Circle of Light, who came together to share their own cultural experiences, and to learn from each other. From tarot card readings, to Sufi dancing and meditation, this group was Marie’s first encounter with bringing together people who were hungry for knowledge of their spiritual nature.
Marie’s experiences evolved into a desire to work with people to assist them in their own personal growth, which led to her work in counseling and coaching. Her desire to bring people together, and to work collectively to create positive change has put her in many leadership experiences. She has served many non-profit boards over the course of her career, several in the role of president, including the Chicago Chapter of the International Coach Federation, of which she was their first president. She has also brought her love of teaching into several roles as consultant and trainer, and she served as an adjunct professor of psychology for the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, and a facilitator for Boston University’s Graduate School of Social Work.
Bringing people together to collectively raise consciousness has never been more important, and Marie is beginning to refocus her efforts to work with bigger groups, and to help people to better understand their nature and their potential. The world needs us to be at our best, to know ourselves at the highest level possible and to make a commitment from that highest potential to bring our light forward.
